About 17% of SGNP’s land lies beyond the Bassein/Bhayander Creek and these forests are relatively pristine, making them a favourite amongst butterfly watchers, bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. A gentle walk down the hillside will lead you to the small nature interpretation center at the base. Here, one gets to experience the confluence of mangrove and forest ecosystems in all their grandeur. This patch of forest also harbours some of the most undisturbed and flourishing mangrove vegetation along the island of Mumbai. Nature never ceases to surprise us with its resilience and in the year 2003, nature enthusiasts discovered that a tigress had taken up residence in this part of the forest! It is a mystery as to where the tiger came from and where it is now! So hit the Nagla Block Trail and get ready to make some of your own discoveries!

Itinerary:

Meeting point at entrance of Sasupada Village, near the Fountain Hotel at 7.30 AM.

Introduction about the Nagla Block and flora and fauna of SGNP.
